If you enjoy practicing yoga and showing other people how to practice it, you can take up a career as a yoga instructor. If you have an interest in helping people get well, if your course has included yoga therapy you could become a Yoga Therapist. You may need to do an additional course if your degree did not include yoga therapy. Yoga therapy can be taught in yoga centers, hospitals and to clients at home. If you like more of glamour you may want to teach yoga at a spa or resort. If you have a deep interest in understanding how yoga has its many effects you may consider yoga research. You need to be able to work hard, be meticulous, unbiased in reporting and be ready to persevere when work seems dull. If you are suited to this career it can be unimaginably rewarding.
Yoga can help persons diagnosed with cancer at every stage. After the diagnosis, to reduce stress and anxiety, which would worsen the person’s physical and psychological condition. During chemotherapy and radiation therapy, to reduce physical side effects, reduce negative affect (or mood) and keep the mental state positive. This would also apply to before, during and after surgery. After that, during the follow-up period yoga can help change a person’s attitude to the condition, reducing fear and inducing a positive state characterized by an interest to survive the experience and to be well.
Yes you can take up a particular area of research a person should have a deep and passionate interest in the area of study. After a post graduation you can definitely consider doing doctoral research in yoga, as there are universities encouraging this as a topic of interest. However you need to read about it and think which area of investigation will be particularly stimulating for you.
Convincing doctors (and patients as well) requires proof. You can get proof through research. If you are unable to do research yourself you should attempt to collect published research done by other scientists using resources such as Pubmed. You may need a bit of help, so I would advise you to contact a scientist in a University or Research Institute close by
